Time flies and we are entering the fourth day of the trip.
On the morning, volunteers from Hong Kong met up with volunteers in Philippines at a church. The task in the morning was to clean, reprocess and pack boxes of used soap collected from hotels in Hong Kong. We were divided into three groups and formed an efficient and orderly assembly line. During this process, we realized how difficult it is for the locals to obtain adequate cleaning tools, especially when faced with the extremely high temperatures of the Philippines.
After lunch, volunteers welcomed the local children in the church. Together with the children, we were divided into three teams for a game competition. Through the fun games, we felt the warmth and sincerity of the local people. After the games, we distributed the soaps we had packaged in the morning to each child.
Through the children’s smiles, we realized how important these soaps are to their families. This made us feel even more responsible for the society we should be. This trip not only opened our eyes to the existence of poverty but more importantly, it made us never stop lending a helping hand in the future.
