This time, Soap Cycling went to the Day Care Centre to work with our elderly neighbours for soap recycling.
Time flew when working! Each elderly neighbour rescued over 2L of bath gel in less than 90 minutes. They worked non-stop although we urged them to take a break. They were respected for their devotion.
The bath gel collected will be distributed to other neighbours in need of it, instead of ending in landfills. At the same time, the plastic bottles became recyclable because their caps had been removed and the liquid inside had been drained.
During recycling, our elderly neighbours did a good fingers and arms exercise. We were glad to see the job satisfaction on their faces.
We are grateful for the support of #循道衛理楊震社會服務處. They realized the activities in their Day Care Centre in Choi Wan, and had their young adults with special needs facilitated the activities.
This experience reinforces the determination of Soap Cycling to bring soap recycling activities to day care centres and aged homes. Hopefully more similar workshops could be held for the good of social inclusion and happy aging.
