On day 3, we visited a Transform community where we worked with children in the Family Academy program. We engaged in a craft activity and drawing faces in celebration of the local festival, and this experience emphasized the importance of providing a supportive environment for children’s development.
During our visit to homes in the community, we met a talented girl who remained positive and decorated her house and community with her paintings despite her living situation. Her resilience inspired us to learn the same.
In the larger coastal community, we learned about community empowerment as the houses were built by community members themselves. We met a family who was concerned about their daily consumption of food and drinking water, motivating us to help the underprivileged.
Reflecting on the day, we were inspired to continue learning about community empowerment and helping those in need. We learned about the impact of positive thinking, resilience, and community support on children’s development, which is crucial to their growth and well-being.
