On the last day of our service, we visited the Nagpana Elementary School where we distributed the soap that we reprocessed on day four and played funny games with young pupils in order to raise their awareness of personal hygiene and how to wash hands properly. It was unforgettable for me to receive a big welcome from elementary pupils who wear traditional costumes and performed a dance for us.
Besides, we worked with student volunteers from Soap Cycling Philippines. Despite they come from different secondary schools and universities, they are passionate and dedicated to serving the local community. We had a great time with young pupils as we played “rock, paper, scissors”, and then we danced, and washed our hands together.
We enjoy seeing the joy of every young kid as it encourages us to keep serving the community. Instead of teaching, we actually learn many things. In the end, they not only gave us a warm hug but also recalled us that happiness is pure and simple.
